Previously, IT operations lacked a good overview of the network, which created uncertainty and operational disruptions. Today, they have a future-proof solution that enables safe and efficient welfare technology.
Norlandia’s business is fundamentally about caring for people, but technology plays an important role in day-to-day operations. For example, preschools use digital systems for checking children in and out, and nursing homes use social alarms and medical record systems. A stable network is therefore a critical prerequisite for Norlandia to be able to deliver its services safely and efficiently.
“In the event of a disruption, it is possible for staff to temporarily switch to manual processes, but this means an increased workload and risks in the business,” says Robert Larsson, who works as IT Operations Manager at Norlandia.
Networking skills and guaranteed action time
Five years ago, there was no clear overall picture of the network, such as which switches and wireless solutions were in place in the businesses, and how the infrastructure was set up. At the same time, they faced a challenge as their only internal resource with deep network expertise was about to retire.
“Instead of building an in-house network department, we chose to outsource network operations as a service,” says Robert.
After a tender process, Aranya was chosen to take over responsibility for the network, including Wi-Fi, switches and cabling.
“A decisive factor for us to choose Aranya was that they not only promised a time when troubleshooting would start, but also gave a guarantee when the problems would be fixed.”
The implementation of the new network solution has taken place continuously over the past five years, both in new establishments and in existing businesses where a need has arisen.
“Today, 117 out of 240 units have a modern network solution via Aranya, and work on the rollout continues,” says Robert.
Secure environment and smooth support paths
With Network as a Service from Aranya , Norlandia’s IT operations now have full visibility of network components and operational status. Where they previously struggled with an insecure and unmanageable network environment, they now have a stable, secure and scalable infrastructure. Through Aranya’s customer platform, ACP (Aranya Connectivity Platform), the IT department gets a unified view of the entire network, enabling proactive management of both support and infrastructure.
“This is a great relief for our IT department. The network is managed automatically, and in case of problems, the support staff can easily register a case in the platform and get quick help from Aranya”, says Robert.
The platform also provides a clear overview of all equipment and network status on each device and site. It also facilitates inventory, upgrade planning and ordering.
“Always having access to updated order forms in the platform simplifies the process and saves time for those of us who work with the network on a daily basis,” says Robert.
The cooperation between Norlandia and Aranya is followed up through ongoing reconciliations regarding SLAs, and technical advice is provided when needed. Robert describes the cooperation as simple and flexible and particularly appreciates that Aranya is not quick to close cases as soon as there is a proposal for action, or in the event that the customer does not respond within a certain time.
“The fact that we, as the customer, decide when a case should be closed means security and provides adaptability in the collaboration,” says Robert.
